Taal Volcano - the island within a lake

I am invariably fascinated with the mysteries brought by nature: its healing power, the beauty after every catastrophic events, and the compliance to what is and about to happen.

Recently, I had an opportunity to visit one of the Philippines most known volcanoes located on the Northern Island of Luzon, the Taal Volcano. It is an island situated in a beautiful Taal Lake in Talisay, Batangas Province. (Yes, it is a volcano island!) By looking at the Lake Taal and Taal Volcano radar satellite image, one could not help but dumbfound because of the beauty and mystery the eruptions have created.

According to the record of Philvolcs, Taal Volcano Island has about 47 craters as an effect of its outburst which record shows 33 times with the most disastrous happened in 1754 and 1911. In fact due to the catastrophic eruptions of the volcano, previous towns established in the area have been lost.

While our destination is breathtaking, the journey on the other hand is captivating. It is here where most feelings are created. Just like life, we learn a lot in our journey to our goal, thus when we reach it, a new desire is being created.

While most of the tourists were riding on a horse, our team was enjoying the hike. Reason? We claimed that it is because of our compassion to the horse. One of us said, "It is better that we get tired of walking, but not the horse." (Truth: No horse renting budget)

Anyways, we were stopping from time to time and posed for a photo and also because our attention were captivated by the volcanic features in every direction.

This was just a side trip. A sort of celebration after the most meaningful recollection of the team. And all the same, we enjoy every moment of it.

Merci beaucoup mes amis! If you happen to visit Manila or the Philippines in general, do yourself a favor and come here in Taal Lake and Volcano Island. It would be worth every second.

If you find yourself become interested with the mystery of Taal, go and grab a book written by Thomas R. Hargrove entitled The mysteries of Taal : a Philippine volcano and lake, her sea life and lost towns. Hargrove spent lots of time researching on the subject.

I also have included a youtube links of an informative documentary of the Taal Volcano.

Thank you!

'till next travel memories ^^
